Welcome to Naturesbase Camp where our learning adventures are inspired by nature.
We have created what we and many schools believe to be one of the most inspirational residential camping environments for schools providing unparalleled learning experiences for every child who comes to stay. One of the best ways to describe it is a 24 /7 forest school experience where we live and learn outside, but with the comfort of our large stone barn for eating, teaching, relaxing and playing in if and when we need to.
Sleeping in large safari style tents, around the campfire circle, children experience the delights of living with and in a truly natural setting on our small holding in west Wales. We learn by doing, using imagination, creativity and team work in all that we do, engaging in new experiences, learning from them and each other.
With over 18 years teaching experience behind us we know the experiences we offer are pioneering, very special and long lasting. With only one school staying at a time, we work with the group from dawn until after dark each day, the enthusiasm for what we do is endless, each child becoming part of Naturesbase camp developing and growing throughout their stay.
The natural beauty of the setting is magical and very safe. The flower rich meadows provide the bases for our classroom with kites souring overhead and stars a blaze at night. By the end of their stay, the children go home bright eyed, buzzing and full of energy, while the teachers return with many exciting new ideas to consolidate and enhance the knowledge gained.
We are open in the Summer Term and then again in the early part of the Autumn Term.
For further information, please contact us for a free self guided power point presentation, download our pdf or arrange for us to visit you to discuss any questions, queries or activities further.
The National Trust recently published 50 things you should do before you are 11 years old. A visit to Naturesbase camp will give children the opportunity to do many of these and more including: lighting a fire, damming a stream, looking for bats, camping out, creating sculptures, feeding pigs, drawing with mud, fishing for crabs, building a shelter, churning butter, collecting eggs, making a theme park for an ant and gazing up at the stars at night.
